First, he embraces Obama, Now, he embraces Trump…
True Conservatives Gotta Love This Guy!
The Governor picked up his bat and ball and went home thinking I’ll fix those guys wagons for not choosing me. So he did according to Saturday’s Wall Street Journal front page headline and three-column color photo.
Will it make a difference? Probably not much but the Governor got some satisfaction from sticking his finger in the eye of the Republican Establishment.
The remaining Republican candidates seem to suggest that each other get out to stop the Trump landslide. It ain’t gonna happen very easily. We believe the only way for Mr. Cruz or Mr. Rubio to consider suspending would be for them to jointly agree to simultaneously step aside.
That still leaves Dr. Carson who seems to be on a joy ride. He, too, ought to suspend and open the door for a one-on-one confrontation between Messrs. Kasich and Trump. Why Kasich?
When was the last time we had a balanced budget? It seems a certain President takes credit for it. Lest we forget, there was a certain House Budget Committee chair also involved. That chair moved to become a Governor of a flagging state and that state went on to become a much better place under his leadership.
We at the Gopher State Politics Institute (GSPI) believe Mr. Kasich would be the overall preferable choice for the Republican Party. We believe Mr. Trump could defeat Mrs. Clinton should she be the Democrat’s contender. But at what price? We believe the race would then be all about The Donald and the rest of the Party would suffer including an almost likely loss of the Senate. Mr. Kasich could also win and it is much more likely that the Republican’s would hang onto the Senate.
That’s our view. We don’t think it is probable for either Mr. Rubio or Mr. Cruz to drop out without the other doing the same. Were Mr. Kasich and Dr. Carson to drop out, this wouldn’t help enough. A more pragmatic view is that unless and until the two Senators come to the realization that the fate of the nation and their Party is dependent on their exiting, the Republicans are heading for a train wreck. Neither can win the nomination with the other in the picture. It’s time to step down right now; March 1 could prove embarrassing for both and make it harder to leave with dignity.
Dr. Carson, Senator Cruz, Senator Rubio; please call it a day. Thank you.
