Gopher State Politics Institute will make another OOTLP (Out on the Limb Prediction).
The Donald will select Newt Gingrich for the vice-presidency slot. Why?
Mr. Trump says he has 25,000 employees. He obviously cannot manage that number by himself so he has to rely on various types of supervision from top to bottom to run his businesses. He has said he needs someone who knows government to run the federal system for him.
That someone would need to be a person with considerable Congressional experience, ability, and toughness. A person whom The Donald could respect and listen to. A person who could stand up to him and slug it out.
Very few would meet Mr. Trump’s specifications. Again, that person has to be battle-hardened, intelligent, super-knowledgeable and highly capable of legislative deal-making. Let’s draw some sort of analogy and say Mr. Trump is a champion tennis player. Now, he doesn’t want to waste time playing a lesser competitor. He would want to take on the best so he could hone his own skills, improve and gain self-satisfaction. He can respect the best and that’s a tall order to fulfill.
Mr. Trump loves and thrives on challenges. He has said he wants someone who isn’t like himself to be vice-president; yet, we believe, that whether he knows it or not he will be sub-consciously looking for attributes and characteristics similar to his own. Successful endeavors rank high.
We believe that the personalities of Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Trump are alike in a number of ways. The Donald can admire Newt’s accomplishments and Newt himself. Further, we believe he likes Newt. To put it simply, a vice-presidential candidate must be smart enough and tough enough to stand up to Mr. Trump. Very few could do that.
So, who fits the bill? Barring the unknown, we’ll place our money that Newt Gingrich is that person.
