One needs to think carefully about gun control. It comes to mind, however, that the most obvious place to start with is the U.S. Congress.
Just recently a Congressman shot himself in the foot that may result in fatally wounding his chances for becoming Speaker. It resulted in collateral damage to the party and much adverse publicity. Can these episodes be prevented? Reminds us of a classmate who carried a sign with him “Engage brain before opening mouth.” That didn’t work either.
Perhaps with a little coaxing the NRA could develop a gun safety program for Members of Congress.
