A Model for Sanctuary Cities&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who would have thunk that little ole St. Paul was a sanctuary city!\u00a0 It\u2019s true.\u00a0 The example St. Paul set for the nation should be carried through to today\u2019s sanctuary cities.<\/p>\n<p>St. Paul was a sanctuary city way back in the 1930\u2019s. \u00a0The problem wasn\u2019t then illegal immigrants, it was the criminal element.\u00a0 Yes, major criminals of the day spent there R&amp;R\u2019s in peaceful St. Paul without fear of the law.\u00a0 In fact, the law protected them.\u00a0 There was a catch, however, the criminals had to register and agree to a code of conduct.\u00a0 No criminal activity whatsoever in St. Paul.\u00a0 It was all right to rob banks in Minneapolis but not St. Paul.\u00a0 That was where one of the original doctrines of hot pursuit occurred across the Lake Street bridge that spanned the Mississippi River between the two cities.\u00a0 The Minneapolis police chasing the criminals and the criminals fleeing as fast as they could for sanctuary in St. Paul.<\/p>\n<p>There is one incident where a lady complained to police that someone stole her purse.\u00a0 The St. Paul police called in the criminal leaders and reminded them that this kind of behavior was not tolerated in St. Paul.\u00a0 The criminals apologized, alleged none of theirs were involved and that they would straighten out the matter.\u00a0 That night so the story goes her purse was deposited on the steps of the police department along with the thief who stole it.\u00a0 Issue resolved.<\/p>\n<p>St. Paul was peaceful in those days and it was fashionable for the higher society to mingle with the likes of the nation\u2019s most wanted.\u00a0 Ah, for the good ole days!<\/p>\n<p>The moral of this story might be that today\u2019s sanctuary cities could benefit from following St. Paul\u2019s lead.\u00a0 Have all your illegals register with the police department and agree not to disturb the peace.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the future again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who would have thunk that little ole St. Paul was a sanctuary city!\u00a0 It\u2019s true.\u00a0 The example St. Paul set for the nation should be carried through to today\u2019s sanctuary cities.
