{"id":429,"date":"2018-06-05T15:51:22","date_gmt":"2018-06-05T20:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gopherstatepolitics.com\/?p=429"},"modified":"2018-06-05T17:30:50","modified_gmt":"2018-06-05T22:30:50","slug":"minnesota-gubernatorial-primaries-opens-door-to-regular-citizen-voters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gopherstatepolitics.com\/minnesota-gubernatorial-primaries-opens-door-to-regular-citizen-voters\/","title":{"rendered":"Minnesota Gubernatorial Primaries Opens Door to Regular Citizen Voters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>June 5, 2018<\/p>\n<p>Opinion and\u00a0Analysis<\/p>\n<p>Zip-puh-dee-do-dah my oh my what a wonderful day!\u00a0 Plenty of action comin\u2019 our way!\u00a0 Minnesota gubernatorial primaries opens the door to regular citizen voters.\u00a0\u00a0The BIG question is Can the Middle Minnesotans take back their government from the far left and the far right?<\/p>\n<p>Can the rural Democrats make their voices heard and take back the party from the flake left city democrats?\u00a0\u00a0Will normal Republican voters turn out in great enough numbers to give the party a candidate that can win?\u00a0\u00a0Things can change fast but as of this writing, it appears that both parties will have hotly contested gubernatorial primaries.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrats in a way are the most interesting.\u00a0 How did Murphy get the endorsement?\u00a0 Congressman Walz seemed fiercely dedicated to gaining the nod.\u00a0 And, who was out there waiting in the woods?\u00a0 None other than the AG.\u00a0 Hm-m!\u00a0 How will that primary vote split?\u00a0 Will Ms. Murphy and Ms. Swanson chew off enough votes to leave Mr. Walz the winner?<\/p>\n<p>We believe the Walz ticket is the strongest followed closely by the Swanson ticket.\u00a0 Perhaps the Murphy ticket the most susceptible to losing to the GOP; especially, if Mr. Pawlenty prevails in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n<p>We believe that on the GOP side Mr. Jonson is the weaker candidate and the most vulnerable of the five.\u00a0 The big question being whether enough ordinary Republicans will get out to vote.\u00a0 Mr. Pawlenty then might be the strongest candidate to take on whoever ekes out the DFL slot.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Pawlenty likely would draw much more financing than Mr. Johnson and is aiming his voter appeal in the general to the middle.\u00a0 But his big hurdle will be to overcome the right-wingers who see cause over victory and who are more motivated to vote than ordinary Republican-leaning Joe and Jane Citizen.<\/p>\n<p>Is party discipline breaking down?\u00a0 The Republicans never really had any but the Democrats seemed to have some until this convention.\u00a0 We believe it\u2019s a good omen that both parties are whacking it out in primaries.\u00a0 The parties have gone too far in both directions in our view and the ordinary citizens should comprise a jury on both parties.<\/p>\n<p>The rural Democrats must step up to the plate and change the ways their city brethren ru(i)n this state.\u00a0 The Republican moderates <em>en masse<\/em> need to come back to the fray\u00a0and send a message to the controlling far right losers.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota\u2019s future is on the line.<\/p>\n<p>Please vote intelligently.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bob Smith, 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Founder<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gopher State Politics Institute<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"mailto:Bob@GopherStatePolitics.com\">Bob@GopherStatePolitics.com<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>www.GopherStatePolitics.com<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 5, 2018 Opinion and\u00a0Analysis Zip-puh-dee-do-dah my oh my what a wonderful day!\u00a0 Plenty of action comin\u2019 our way!\u00a0 Minnesota gubernatorial primaries opens the door to regular citizen voters.\u00a0\u00a0The BIG question is Can the Middle Minnesotans take back their government from the far left and the far right?
